The "cheerily, cheer up, cheer up, cheerily, cheer up" song of the male American robin can be heard from early morning through the day. Robins like to sing from high perches in trees. They begin breeding in April and are among the first birds to lay eggs, which are colored a beautiful light turquoise, known as "robin's egg blue."
