Liberty Science Center
An exciting and interactive science museum on the shore of the Hudson River in New Jersey
Located in the heart of Liberty State Park in Jersey City, the newly renovated Liberty Science Center provides exciting, world class experiences for the entire family. Stressing interaction and fun, the center explores environmental issues facing the globe as well as more local scientific wonders.
The center has something for all ages and interests. Kids ages 2 to 7 have the run of the I Explore exhibit where they can see what lives under the sidewalks and make music using the Rock Xylophone. The rest of the family can visit exhibits on surprising subjects. Try your hand at graffiti and sign language in the Communications exhibit. In Our Hudson Home exhibit you can explore six aquaria, some as large as 7,000 gallons, and even operate an underwater robotic vehicle to get a closer view of the creatures that live in the majestic river just outside the museum. Additional exhibits on germs, predators, new energy sources and much more will make your visit a day to remember.
Reopened in 2007 after two years of renovations, Liberty Science Center is now housed in a state of the art green building which produces a quarter of its own energy from solar and wind sources. This environmentally conscious outlook has extended to some of the museum's exhibits which examine the energy sources that humans currently use and what innovations are in progress.
Liberty Science Center focuses on making science fascinating for every visitor. With live demonstrations and hands-on exhibits, visitors are bound to both learn and have fun at this museum.
