America: Who We Are

Departs from Slip 2, Battery Park. Sights include the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, South Street Seaport, Governors Island and Brooklyn Bridge.

More than forty percent of Americans are descended from the immigrants who arrived through New York Harbor. Relive their experiences and examine the influence that each new wave of arrivals has had on the food, language and culture of New York and indeed the nation.

Written and narrated by New York Times urban affairs correspondent Sam Roberts, this one-hour tour includes commentary by national park rangers, New York Times reporters Joseph Berger and David Gonzalez, park historian Barry Moreno and past and recent immigrants.
