America: Who We Are

This one hour journey through immigration's past and present explores historic harbor sites and the role that immigrants have played—and still play—in shaping New York and the nation. You'll hear National Park Service Rangers and other experts reveal the changing face of America, and the voices of recent immigrants who speak candidly about their lives.

Written and narrated by New York Times reporter Sam Roberts, the tour also features reporters Joseph Berger and David Gonzalez, talking about their own experiences covering the immigration beat today.

On the tour you will:

  • See our story unfold through the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge, Governors Island, Ground Zero and the Battery.
  • Relive the wide-eyed wonder that millions of people felt as they entered the harbor and were greeted by the world's most enduring symbol of freedom: the Statue of Liberty.
