President Washington: An Enslaved Woman’s Perspective

Join living historian Cheyney McKnight to discuss George Washington’s views on slavery, drawn from his correspondence and personal accounts. Mcknight talks about Washington’s interaction with his enslaved plantation workers as well as patriot and loyalist soldiers. Share your opinions on how Washington’s actions and beliefs on slavery affect the way we view the war hero and first President of the United States.

Two presentations, at 11am and 2pm.
